Some Things To Be Thankful For

We make more than just t-shirts...

Well ladies and gentlemen its that time of year once again. The leaves are turning, the campuses have emptied out and all across Canada people are  with their families to giving thanks. Here at the TYA family we’ve got a lot of reasons to be thankful. But easily the best news is that:

As we speak the rest of the TYA crew is hard at work putting together the finishing touches on our newest designs. In case you’ve forgotten here’s what they look like:

Keep an eye out for one of us or send an order to if you want one of the designs.

Now I can’t speak for the rest of the TYA fam but to me, at least, this weekend means more than turkey and t-shirts. There’s a lot to be thankful and so I give to you….

After Kevin,Shaq and I moved in we didn’t have internet for a couple weeks. At first none of us were very happy about it but after a little bit we began to accept our fate and realize that there’s more to life than facebook. For the important stuff we’d go to the library and the rest of the time we’d just entertain ourselves, hang out and enjoy having our own place.

But let’s be real here: I love the internet. Facebook is life. Getting it was like having the tingling sensation when your foot falls asleep finally going away. Its not like you’re in pain but it feels good once its over. Where else do you find this kinda thing:

I don’t know if there’s a trend going on with pants and button flies but peeing is so much more enjoyable when you don’t have to fiddle with buttons before. When I find a nice pair of jeans with a good zipper fly I lock that shit down.

Being with family and good friends is what the holidays are all about, regardless of what the holiday is. I had the pleasure to spend thanksgiving with both:

The TYA Fam

Big Pimp Daddy

Sweet. Spicy. Tangy. Sensual. These bold flavours amalgamating in your mouth in a perfect harmony of flavour and heat. It is sad how much of this I’ve been eating. At least once a day if not more. I’ve even used it as salad dressing. Cooking tip: try putting some in scrambled eggs before you cook it and after. Thank you, Sriracha.

So there you have it, a little something from our TYA family to yours. Happy Thanksgiving and Shona Tova if you’re into that kinda thing.

Mark and the rest of TYA

Online store is up and Fall 2011 Collection has DROPPED!

This is just a quick post for all of you blog followers that haven’t already heard. The Thousand Years Apparel Online Store is officially up and running, and all the items are up for Pre-Order. How that works is that you basically pay for the item in advance via credit card, debit, or PayPal to guarantee that you will receive what you ordered, instead of leaving it up to chance that we would have your size/design in stock. This streamlines everything and makes it easier on both you and us, given that we can actually put in the orders according to the volume of pre-orders we get, plus stock.

Some of you may be wondering why we upped our prices this time around, and it’s a simple matter of making everything more premium for you to wear. That means every item we sell has our labels hand-sewn on it, including a unique loop label for accessorizing that you’ll see in the lookbook (coming in August). This also means premium originality, like the hand-sewn button on the Painter’s Snapback, and free stuff with every order, like stickers and pins. Continue reading

Music Monday

What’s good music fans?

If there’s one thing we at Thousand Years simply can’t get enough of, it’s a regular supply of the freshest music around. We like to kick back to some old school jams, and go ham to some new club bangers. Our music relaxes us, excites us, inspires us, and perfectly describe our moods.

For our first Music Monday, I’ve got some nice chill tracks for you guys to go along with the weather we’ve been having. I’m not sure if any of you heard last night’s thunder storm, but I definitely did, and I’m definitely enjoying the calm, relaxing atmosphere that’s followed.

Without further ado, I present to all of you, the unreal tracks that I’ve been listening to-

“That’s My Bitch” – Kanye West & Jay-Z

Why Can’t Asian Guys Have Normal Hair?

This subject is dear and near to three of the guys here at Thousand Years who wrestle with this topic every day (less so for David). The dilemma comes each morning when, as an Asian male, you look at yourself in the mirror and decide what you want to do with your hair. Even more than that, the next time you go to the Chinese barber that your mom swears by, you end up giving in to the ‘regular’ haircut you always get, the same one you’ve gotten for the past however many years you’ve lived (minus the bowl-cut years). As I approach the time when my friends and family all begin to tell me to cut my hair, I am struggling with my identity as I try to find a hairstyle that I truly like and would imagine wearing out every day.

I Google’d “Asian Hairstyle Men” and here were the results of my searches:

Really? REALLY?

The Best of Fresh Prince Fashion (Season 1)

I recently finished all 6 seasons of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and having finally understood the genius of the 90s, as well as the fashion sense of the day, I present to you the 30 best 90s outfits, a la Fresh Prince (parts of the first season). I will be making this a new series on our blog, as I’ll continue to post more pictures of Will’s funky style (well, the whole cast and some cameos) over the span of the 6 seasons. Included are the worst outfit to ever grace the set of Fresh Prince, as well as a FRESH pair of jammies that I guess Will sleeps in. But don’t rush me, constantly screenshotting a television series is time consuming! Also, keep an eye out for styles that will give a sneak peak into the Thousand Years Fall 2011 snapback.

Ah, the classic power suit.
